In 2002, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) strengthened the inspection code requirement for automatic fire sprinkler systems to help maintain proper service of these critical Life Safety systems.
Anything that is mechanical MUST be maintained and inspected:
This includes fire sprinkler systems. The NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) says the following:
“An investigation of piping and branch conditions SHALL be conducted every 5 years by opening a flushing connection at the end of one main and by removing a sprinkler toward the end of one branch line for the purpose of investigating for the presence of foreign organic and inorganic material.” (NFPA 25, Chapter 13.2, 2002)
