There is light at the end of the tunnel as recent announcements made by the federal government have led to the reopening of many businesses since the onset of the novel Coronavirus. As states receive further instruction, building owners and facility managers will soon be getting ready to reintroduce occupants to their buildings. Most of these structures have been relatively vacant for an extended period of time.

During this unique time, the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) has encouraged the maintenance of all fire protection and life safety systems in commercial and multi-occupancy residential buildings. For additional information from the NFPA regarding this topic they have provided a checklist for reopening a building and the importance of maintaining the fire protection systems.
