Fire & Life Safety America offices offer design and estimating staffs who are experienced—including two fire protection engineers and a score of NICET IVs as full time employees—and knowledgeable regarding the design and specifications for all types of fire protection and life safety systems installations.
These include commercial, industrial, municipal and residential fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and special hazards systems. We offer customers several key services throughout the construction cycle.
In the preliminary stages of a project, we may assist the owner in developing and evaluating what is needed to solve a fire protection issue, or may advise on code requirements. FLSA’s estimating and design team can develop a specific proposal based on the engineer’s specifications or help the customer to develop these specifications. Once defined, FLSA can then offer the most economical and cost effective design and installation plan to meet applicable codes and regulatory requirements. To accomplish this goal, we work closely with the local AHJs, architects, engineers, the owner, and insurers.
The experience that comes from having representatives on national code writing committees allows FLSA to work with difficult or high hazard applications. With multiple fire protection engineers (FPEs) on staff, no problem is too large or complex. All design is managed locally to insure the most efficient and cost-effective installation plan that meets local codes.
Our designers are strongly encouraged to become NICET certified, gaining knowledge and experience in building codes and insurance requirements for a wide variety of building uses. A fully integrated network system allows our designers, estimators, and field managers immediate access to our electronic design files. We can easily communicate design changes via the World-Wide Web—information and revisions are transmitted with minimal time delay.
Design and estimating to upgrade life safety systems through a retrofit or renovation is another area of expertise within our company. Here again, the experience and wisdom gained from decades of working with fire protection issues is passed on to our customers to eliminate unexpected problems and minimize impact to building owners or tenants, providing superior service.
Whether you are in the preliminary stages of planning a project, are seeking an estimate for a design/build project, or have a specific proposal ready for pricing or sealed-bid, our design and sales team can provide problem-solving and project management skills from the concept phase through close out of the project.
